Peer Review Center - Credits for Reviews

About Peer Review Center

PeerReviewCenter.org is a free and independent service to give and receive credits for peer reviews. Peer Review is a fundamental aspect of progress in science, engineering, medicine, and institutional policies, and yet it goes largely unrecognized.

Peer Review is a voluntary and mostly anonymous effort that qualified persons make in their free time. The number and type of reviews that a person does is an excellent indication of his/her competence, experience, and stature in a field. As such, this information would be extremely valuable in a Curriculum Vitae along with publications, consultancies, or community services.

Before PeerReviewCenter.org, there was no way of keeping track of one's own reviews. In a few cases, journals and conferences publish the names of reviewers, but even in this case they do not mention the number of reviews done by a person. Furthermore, it is not easy for a reviewer to keep track of all the reviews done in the past and collect evidence if this information is required (for example, in applications for promotion).

PeerReviewCenter.org is a one-stop service that allows reviewers to receive, securely, store, monitor, and generate statements of credits received for reviews performed for several types of organizations, such as professional journals, conferences, funding agencies, and many more. A credit is a certified acknowledgment that a review has been performed and it cannot be exchanged for cash, goods, or other services.

Registered users of PeerReviewCenter.org can also issue review credits to other reviewers for performed reviews if they happen to be in a position to do so. In order to issue a credit, the user must submit evidence indicating that he or she is entitled to commission and/or collect reviews. A qualified human at PeerReviewCenter.org reviews all submitted evidence and, in case of insufficient or questionable evidence, can cancel credits provided by that user.
